The incidence of syphilis in a tertiary care hospital

Abstract

This study was done to know the incidence of syphilis in the teaching hospital of Bhaskar Medical College. 3354 samples were collected from the patients attending the hospital from January2012 to December 2013. Rapid Plasma Reagin testing was done. The incidence was found to be low 0.11%.Syphilis is a major cause of abortion and poor pregnancy outcomes , so it has to be screened at the first antenatal visit. Keywords:Incidence, RPR, Syphilis
